National Children’s Health Day started in 1928 under President Calvin Coolidge. It was first observed on May 1st however in 1960 was changed and is now celebrated on the first Monday of October. Prior to the mid-19th century, there were no facilities dedicated to the treatment of children since there was no clear understanding of their health at the time. Fortunately, now we have a better idea of their needs and can even identify a correlation between low-income families and the role it plays in children’s physical and mental health. This day is commemorated to show support for not only children’s health but also their families and those who work hard to help them.
