I’d like to introduce Megan Abbassi, a Nutritionist, Certified Lactation Counselor, and my intern. I’ll let her tell you about herself…
I’m Megan Abbassi. I was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. I graduated from Texas A&M University- College Station in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Community Development and Agricultural Leadership and Development. While studying at Texas A&M I both lived abroad in Madrid, Spain and completed a nutrition internship in the Nordic Sound of Nome, Alaska. I am a wife to a wonderful and hardworking husband and a mother to a two year old son. I became passionate about breastfeeding before my son was born. I would find myself staying up at night reading and researching about breastfeeding and not once thought that this was something that I didn’t want to do. Once my son was born, I found that our bond was something that could not be replaced. As a first time mom, I am so thankful to the support I did receive and the many Lactation Consultants that helped me and my son make our breastfeeding journey so amazing. Shortly after my son turned 1 years old, I found myself still researching and reading about breastfeeding and all the amazing things it could do. I knew that my level of interest was not just some short term passion, I knew that I wanted to actually make a difference in the lives of babies and families. With my new life ambition, I became a Certified Lactation Counselor in October 2018 and I am currently studying to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and am hoping to sit for the exam in October 2019.
